numptr terms --summary
reading:free

sponsored:always labelled
your rights:untouched # consumer law still applies
# the long version is below. the bold bits matter most.
the deal
these terms cover numptr.com, including the newsletter, the badges and anything you buy from us. by using the site you agree to them. if you don't agree, please don't use the site. how we handle personal data is in the privacy notice.
what numptr is (and isn't)
- rankings, scores and verdicts are our editorial opinion. we explain how we get there on how we score. they aren't lab tests or guarantees.
- prices and plans are snapshots taken from each vendor's own pages on the date shown. vendors change them whenever they like, so always check the vendor's site before you buy. "unknown" means we couldn't verify it.
- numptr is general information, not professional, financial, legal or security advice. you decide which tools to use, and the deal you make with a tool is between you and that tool.
- we work hard to get things right, but we can't promise every detail is complete or current. spot a mistake? tell us at hello@numptr.com and we'll fix it.
rankings aren't for sale
nobody can pay to change a rank, a score or a verdict. some links are affiliate or referral links, and we may earn a commission at no cost to you, but affiliate status never affects rank. paid placements are always labelled sponsored or featured and kept separate from the rankings.
using the site
read it, share it, quote it with a link back. please don't:
- try to break, overload or get round the security of the site
- scrape or copy it in a way that slows it down for everyone else, or republish our rankings, scores or verdicts as your own
- use numptr's name, logo or Numpty to suggest we endorse you when we don't
- use the site for anything illegal
we can block access for anyone who does.
our content and yours
the words, rankings, scores, design, Numpty and the numptr name are ours. quoting short bits with a link to the page is fine. tool names, logos and trademarks belong to their owners and appear here only to identify their tools. if you think something here infringes your rights, email hello@numptr.com and we'll look at it quickly.
badges
tools we list can use the free rank badges and featured badges on their own sites. don't edit a badge, don't claim a rank you don't hold, and keep the link pointing at your numptr page. badges update from our data, so they can change when ranks change, and we can withdraw a badge that's being misused.
the numptr weekly
the weekly is free. you can unsubscribe at any time with the link in every email. we may change how often it goes out, or stop it.
sponsorship and paid stuff
- sponsorship is booked on the sponsor page, which sets out what you get and the price at the time you book. payment is taken by Stripe.
- we only take sponsors that are useful to people building with AI. if we turn you down, you get a full refund.
- refunds: if we can't run your week, you get every penny back. once your week has started, it's started: no refunds. this doesn't affect any rights you have by law.
- sponsored spots are always labelled and never change rankings, scores or verdicts. you're responsible for what your sponsor copy says, and we can ask you to change copy that's misleading or breaks the law.
- verified listings for makers aren't on sale yet. when they are, their price and terms will be on the makers page before you pay.
links to other sites
we link to lots of other sites, mostly the tools themselves. we don't control them and we're not responsible for what's on them, what they charge or how they handle your data. read their terms before you sign up.
the community (not open yet)
we're building a community where builders can post what they've built. it isn't open yet. when it opens, these extra terms will apply to it, and we'll update this page first:
- who can join: you'll need to be 18 or over, use a real email, keep your sign-in to yourself, and have one account per person.
- your content: you own what you post. you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, show and adapt it (for example resize it, or quote it in the weekly or on tool pages) to run and promote numptr. the licence ends when you delete it, apart from copies already sent in emails and short-lived backups.
- what you promise: you have the right to post it, it's honest, and it follows the house rules below.
- builders' claims are builders' claims: costs, stacks and opinions in builds come from the people who post them, and we don't check them. community likes and "built with" counts are kept apart from numptr's rankings and never change them.
- moderation: we can hide content or suspend accounts that break these terms or the house rules, and we'll tell you why unless the law or someone's safety means we can't. think we got it wrong? email hello@numptr.com and a different person will look again.
- links: links posted by members are theirs. we mark them so search engines know that, and we're not responsible for what's on the other end.
- it's a beta: it may change, break or close. we'll give notice where we can.
house rules
for the community, once it opens. short version: be useful, be honest, be nice.
- post real builds. things you've actually made or are making. no ads dressed up as builds, no affiliate-link farms.
- be honest about costs and what broke. rough numbers are fine; made-up ones aren't.
- disagree with the build, not the builder. no abuse, harassment, threats, slurs or pile-ons.
- no illegal or harmful content. nothing sexual involving children (we report it), no terrorist content, no fraud, no doxxing, no malware, nothing that infringes someone else's work.
- tool makers are welcome, but say who you work for. don't fake likes or reviews, for your tool or against anyone else's.
- one account each. no sockpuppets, no like rings, no bought votes. likes don't touch numptr's rankings anyway.
- keep chat about the build. questions, tips, well-dones. selling something? not here.
anyone will be able to hit report on a build or a message, and a person reviews reports. for illegal content, or anything that puts someone at risk, report it and email hello@numptr.com with "urgent" in the subject.
responsibility
we provide numptr "as is". as far as the law allows, we're not responsible for losses caused by relying on the site, for example a price that changed after we checked it, a tool that didn't suit you, or the site being unavailable for a while. nothing in these terms limits liability that can't legally be limited, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, and nothing here takes away your rights as a consumer.
changes
we may update these terms as numptr changes. we'll change the date at the top, and if it's a big change, like opening the community, we'll say so on the site before it applies.
