Windsurf pricing explained: what Devin Desktop costs now

updated · prices checked on vendor pages

quick answer: Windsurf was renamed Devin Desktop by Cognition on june 2, 2026, and the prices didn't change. Free gets you unlimited Tab completions and a light agent quota. Pro is $20/mo and opens up the frontier models and Devin Cloud. Max is $200/mo for much bigger quotas. Teams is $80/mo plus $40/mo per full seat, for up to 200 users.

we rank Devin Desktop #7 in coding agents (7.0/10). still a decent editor underneath. here's what you pay.

the plans

plan price what you get
Free $0 light agent quota, limited models, unlimited inline edits and Tab completions
Pro $20/mo bigger quotas, frontier models from OpenAI, Claude, Gemini and SpaceXAI, Devin Cloud agents, extra usage at API pricing
Max $200/mo everything in Pro with significantly higher quotas
Teams $80/mo + $40/mo per full seat up to 200 users, shared billing, admin analytics, priority support
Enterprise custom SSO, VPC deployment, dedicated support

Pro, Max and Teams users also get Cognition's SWE-2 model free in Devin Desktop and the CLI through october 16, 2026.

how usage works

each paid plan comes with a usage allowance that refreshes daily and weekly. what a message costs depends on the model, the size of the job and how much reasoning it needs. go over your allowance and you can buy extra usage at API pricing.

Cognition's own tip for making it last: tighter prompts, and smaller models (Haiku, GPT 5.2 mini, Kimi K2.5) for routine work.

the catches (read these)

1. the name's changed, the editor hasn't gone. windsurf.com/pricing now redirects to devin.ai/pricing. Cognition says plans and pricing stayed the same, legacy Windsurf Enterprise plans included. the Cascade agent has been replaced by Devin Local, at the same pricing.

2. Free is for tab completion. unlimited Tab is lovely. the agent quota is light, and the model list is limited.

3. there's a big gap between Pro and Max. nothing sits between $20 and $200. outgrow Pro and you're buying extra usage at API pricing, or jumping to Max.

4. Teams has a base fee. $80 a month for the team plan, then $40 per full seat on top. two people come to $160 a month.

5. concurrent sessions are capped on Free and Pro. up to 10 at a time on both. Max and Teams are unlimited.

which plan should you pick?

is Devin Desktop worth it vs the rest?

cheapest paid notes
Devin Desktop $20/mo (Pro) free tier has unlimited Tab
Cursor $8/mo (Plus) Grok models only at that price
GitHub Copilot $10/mo (Pro) unlimited completions on paid plans
Claude Code $20/mo (Claude Pro) our #1 coding agent

at $20 it's level with Claude Pro and dearer than Copilot Pro. for the head-to-head, see Cursor vs Windsurf. every plan side by side is on the AI coding agent price sheet.
