v0 pricing (2026): is v0 by Vercel free, and what do credits buy?
updated ยท prices checked on vendor pages
quick answer: v0 pricing, as of oct 29, 2026: yes, v0 by Vercel is free to start, with a 7 message a day limit, deploys to Vercel, Design Mode and GitHub sync. Plus is $30 a user a month with $30 of credits plus $2 of daily login credits. Business is $100 a user a month, Enterprise is custom. credits pay for model tokens, so a busy chat costs more than a quiet one.
v0 is #1 of 4 on our prototyping & ui board (8.5/10) because it's the one devs actually reach for: React and Next.js ui with shadcn/ui, GitHub sync even on the free plan, and it'll work on your existing repo. it's a prototyping tool though, not where a real app gets built. once the ui's sorted, carry on in Claude Code (#1 on our coding agents board), Cursor or Codex.

is v0 free?
yes. the free plan costs nothing and gets you v0 itself, deploys to Vercel, visual edits with Design Mode and GitHub sync, capped at 7 messages a day. that's enough to find out whether its React output suits your project, not enough to build much. free users can't buy on-demand credits: you have to upgrade to a paid plan first.
how v0 credits work
v0 bills by tokens, and your plan's credits are dollars spent at each model's token rate.
the table: how v0 credits work
| model | input | cache write | cache read | output |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| v0 Mini | $0.20/1M | $0.25/1M | $0.02/1M | $1.20/1M |
| v0 Pro | $2/1M | $2.50/1M | $0.20/1M | $10/1M |
| v0 Max | $5/1M | $6.25/1M | $0.50/1M | $25/1M |
| v0 Max Fast | $10/1M | $12.50/1M | $1/1M | $50/1M |
- short prompts still cost input tokens. v0 sends your chat history, source files and Vercel knowledge along with every message, and all of that counts as input. long chats on big projects get pricier per message, so start fresh chats for fresh jobs.
- included usage goes first, then on-demand credits you've bought. run out of both and v0 pauses generation until you top up.
- unused monthly credits roll over for one month on paid plans. bought credits expire after a year.
- no refunds, as a rule, because every model call costs v0 money. no student, nonprofit or PPP discounts either, per the faq.
- it's not part of your Vercel plan. v0 uses your Vercel login, but a Vercel Hobby, Pro or Enterprise plan doesn't include it. you pay for both.
which v0 plan should a dev pick?
- trying it on one ui: stay on Free. 7 messages a day tells you plenty.
- using it every week for prototypes and ui: go for Plus. the $30 of credits and the $2 a day login top up go further on v0 Mini than on v0 Max.
- a team that needs training opt-out: go for Business. it carries the same $30 of credits per user as Plus, so the extra $70 a user is for training opt-out by default, not more usage.
- SSO, access control, SLAs: go for Enterprise.
- the prototype's becoming a product: sync it to GitHub and finish it in a coding agent, so you're not paying per token for every tweak. see Claude Code pricing and Cursor vs Claude Code.
